13 Hours (2016)

13 Hours (2016) is an American biographical action-thriller film directed and produced by Michael Bay and written by Chuck Hogan; it is based on Mitchell Zuckoff’s 2014 book of the same name. Set in Libya in 2012, following the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi, it portrays Benghazi as one of the most dangerous places in the world, prompting countries to withdraw their diplomatic offices out of fear for potential attacks by militants. The United States maintains a diplomatic compound in the city, while less than a mile away lies a top secret CIA base known as ‘the Annex’. This base is guarded by a team of private military contractors from Global Response Staff (GRS), which includes new arrival Jack Silva, a former US Navy SEAL.
He is picked up by his friend Tyrone ‘Rone’ Woods, commander of the GRS team, and together they join forces with fellow former US Marines Mark ‘Oz’ Geist, John ‘Tig’ Tiegen and Dave ‘Boon’ Benton and former US Army Ranger Kris ‘Tanto’ Paronto. Meanwhile, the CIA Chief of Station known as ‘Bob’ constantly reminds the team to refrain from engaging with civilians. Before the US Ambassador’s arrival, the GRS team visits the Special Mission, where the Ambassador will be staying. They brief DSS Agents Scott Wickland and Dave Ubben on the potential for an attack due to the inadequate security measures and unstable government in Benghazi. Upon arriving in the city, Ambassador Chris Stevens must navigate diplomatic relations amidst turmoil with minimal protection from five DSS Agents, primarily Wickland and Ubben, as well as local militia from ’17-Feb’.
