A.D. The Bible Continues (2015) is the follow-up to the 2013 biblical miniseries, The Bible, and the film Son of God. It is an American drama produced by Roma Downey, Mark Burnett, and Richard Bedser. The limited series premiered on NBC on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015, with twelve one-hour episodes airing weekly. Beginning with the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, it picks up immediately after the events of The Bible and Son of God and continues with the first ten chapters of Acts of the Apostles. Unfortunately, NBC cancelled A.D. The Bible Continues after one season on July 3, 2015. However, producers Burnett and Downey have plans for future biblical productions on their OTT digital channel.
A.D. picks up after the widely popular ‘The Bible’, delving into the remarkable events that occurred following Christ’s Crucifixion. As we are aware, the Crucifixion was merely the start of this remarkable story. The immediate aftermath had a profound effect on those closest to Christ, including his disciples and mother Mary, as well as influential figures in politics and religion. Witness the disciples’ struggles as they spread their message, taking us from the sorrow of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice to the marvel of the Resurrection and beyond. From executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett comes a spiritually uplifting journey through later chapters of biblical history.
