A Lot Like Love (2005)
A romantic comedy-drama, A Lot like Love (2005) follows the story of Emily Friehl and Oliver Martin through various pivotal moments in their lives. Beginning seven years in the past and progressing to the present, their first encounter takes place on a flight from Los Angeles to New York City. Despite Emily’s spontaneous actions, they part ways without exchanging contact information. However, fate brings them together again in the city where they spend time exploring and taking photos with Oliver’s camera. As they get to know each other, Oliver shares his plans of becoming an Internet entrepreneur and gives Emily his mother’s phone number, suggesting she call him in six years to see if his dreams come true.
Three years later, Emily finds herself facing New Year’s Eve alone after being recently dumped. While rifling through her address book, she comes across Oliver’s number and decides to give him a call. The two of them meet for dinner, followed by a big party with Emily’s friends. After seeing her ex at the party, Emily gets quite intoxicated and ends up leaving with Oliver. She wakes up the next morning to find that he has already left for San Francisco. This begins a pattern of reunions over time, as both Emily and Oliver have their own separate relationships. Meanwhile, Oliver and his business partner Jeeter work on developing their online diaper service while Emily finds success as a photographer.
