A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1993) is the fourth installment in the popular American fantasy slasher film franchise. Following the events of the previous film, Kristen, Kincaid, and Joey have been released from Westin Hills and are trying to live their lives as normal teenagers with their families. Despite this, Kristen is still afraid that Freddy Krueger will return, and she summons Kincaid and Joey into her dream where they visit his old boiler room. In an attempt to calm Kristen’s fears, Kincaid and Joey show her that the boiler is cold. The next day, Kristen meets up with her boyfriend Rick Johnson and their friends – Rick’s sister Alice who is shy and quiet, Sheila who is a genius with asthma, and Debbie who hates bugs. However, Kincaid and Joey confront Kristen at school about her dream.
They inform her that their dream battles have ceased, and if she persists, she may inadvertently summon Krueger once again. That evening, Kristen remains awake to prevent herself from entering the dream world, but Kincaid dozes off. He awakens in a junkyard where Freddy has been unintentionally revived. Kincaid combats Freddy, but ultimately loses and meets his demise. Meanwhile, Joey falls asleep in his room and encounters a figure from one of his posters swimming in his waterbed. He is pulled into the bed by Freddy and meets the same fate as Kincaid. The following day at school, it is revealed that both Kincaid and Joey have been discovered dead. Later on, Kristen shares the news with Rick, Alice, and Alice’s love interest Dan Jordan, pledging to seek revenge for Kincaid and Joey’s deaths by Freddy’s hand.
