Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948) is an American horror comedy film directed by Charles Barton. A concerned Larry Talbot contacts the railway station in Florida, where baggage clerks Chick Young and Wilbur Grey are employed. In his call, Talbot urgently warns Wilbur of an impending shipment for ‘McDougal’s House of Horrors’. However, his message is cut short as he transforms into a werewolf with the rising full moon. Wilbur dismisses the call as a joke, unaware of the real danger. Meanwhile, McDougal demands that the crates be delivered directly to his wax museum. Despite it being after hours, Chick and Wilbur agree to deliver them. They open the first crate and discover Dracula’s coffin inside. When Chick steps away, Wilbur reads about the legend of Dracula and unwittingly sets him free from his coffin.
Frightened beyond words, Wilbur struggles to call for help when Chick returns, unconvinced by his wild story. The boys open the second crate, and Chick immediately approaches McDougal. Dracula mesmerizes Wilbur, discovers Frankenstein’s Monster in the same crate, and reawakens him. They both depart while McDougal finds the boxes unoccupied and has Wilbur and Chick taken into custody. That evening, Dr Sandra Mornay cordially receives Dracula and the Monster at her secluded island castle. Sandra has drawn Wilbur in with her charms as part of Dracula’s scheme to secure a more compliant brain for the monster. In the meantime, Wilbur and Chick are released from jail by Joan Raymond, an undercover insurance investigator who is pretending to be in love with Wilbur in hopes of extracting information.
