It was loosely based on a 2018 article by Reeves Wiedeman for the New York magazine’s website The Cut. A married couple, after moving into their dream home in a fictionalized version of Westfield, New Jersey, receive creepy letters from a stalker who uses the pseudonym ‘The Watcher’.
