The League of Gentlemen (1999–2017), a British comedy horror sitcom, debuted on BBC Two in 1999. Set in the fictional town of Royston Vasey, inspired by Alston, Cumbria, the show follows a cast of eccentric characters portrayed by three of its four writers: Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, and Reece Shearsmith.
