Adventure Time (2010–2018) is an animated TV show about a boy named Finn and his best friend, Jake, who can transform into any shape. Created by Pendleton Ward and produced by Frederator Studios for Cartoon Network, the show takes place in a post-apocalyptic world called the Land of Ooo. This land was destroyed by the Mushroom War, a nuclear disaster that occurred 1,000 years before the series. According to Ward, Finn is a ‘fiery little kid with strong morals’, while Jake’s character is based on Bill Murray’s Tripper Harrison from Meatballs. Although he may seem care-free, Jake always offers Finn good advice when needed.
In the course of the show, Finn and Jake come across several prominent figures such as Princess Bubblegum, ruler of the Candy Kingdom and a talking gum; the Ice King, an intimidating yet often misunderstood ice sorcerer; Marceline, a vampire queen who has been around for a millennium and loves rock music; Lumpy Space Princess, an emotionally over-the-top princess made of ‘lumps’; BMO, a living video game console who is also their roommate; and Flame Princess, the fiery leader of the Fire Kingdom.
