Alien (1979), directed by Ridley Scott and written by Dan O’Bannon, is a science fiction horror film. The story was co-authored by Ronald Shusett. The seven-member crew of the commercial space tug Nostromo, including Captain Dallas, Executive Officer Kane, Warrant Officer Ripley, Navigator Lambert, Science Officer Ash, and engineers Parker and Brett, are in stasis as they return to Earth. Upon receiving a transmission from a nearby moon, Mother awakens the crew. In accordance with protocol to investigate any potential distress signals, Dallas, Kane, and Lambert venture out to the moon’s surface to trace the signal’s source. There they come across a derelict alien spaceship where they find the remains of a large creature with a hole in its torso. Despite only partially deciphering the transmission, Ripley identifies it as a warning message.

Kane stumbles upon a chamber filled with numerous large eggs. Upon touching one, a creature bursts out and latches onto his face. His fellow crew members, Dallas and Lambert, carry him back to the Nostromo while he remains unconscious. Ripley, the current acting senior officer, refuses to let them aboard due to quarantine regulations. However, Ash overrides her decision and allows them to enter the ship. Once in space, Ash attempts to remove the creature from Kane’s face, but it eventually falls off and is found lifeless. Despite suffering from some memory loss, Kane appears to be otherwise unharmed upon awakening. D  uring their final meal before returning to stasis, he suddenly begins choking and convulsing. To everyone’s horror, a small alien bursts out of his chest and ultimately kills him before escaping into the ship.
