Ambulance (2022)
Ambulance (2022) is an American heist action thriller film, directed and co-produced by Michael Bay and written by Chris Fedak. A collaboration between New Republic Pictures, Project X Entertainment and Bay Films, it is a remake of the 2005 Danish film Ambulancen. Will Sharp, a former Marine and Afghanistan veteran, desperately seeks $231,000 for his wife Amy’s experimental cancer surgery. He turns to his lifelong criminal adoptive brother Danny for help. Together they plan a $32 million bank heist. Despite some initial hesitation, Will agrees when Danny reminds him that the money is for Amy’s operation. The scheme almost succeeds until Officer Zach Parker unexpectedly enters the bank to ask out a teller and becomes a hostage of Danny’s. A shootout follows between one of the heist members and Zach’s partner Officer Mark. The Special Investigation Section (SIS) of the LAPD intervenes, apprehending or eliminating all but Will and Danny who flee towards the garage. During a scuffle between Zach and Danny, Will accidentally shoots Zach while trying to escape with his brother through the back of the building. As they are surrounded by police officers outside, the brothers leave Zach to die in order to make their getaway.
In their escape, they hijack a Falck ambulance with paramedic Cam Thompson onboard, who is treating the injured Zach. A chase leads them into an alleyway where Cam attempts to flee with a fire extinguisher but ultimately stays when Zach’s condition worsens. SIS Captain Monroe joins in pursuit, deploying helicopters to chase after the stolen ambulance. Danny enlists Cam’s help in using a defibrillator and persuades Will to donate his blood to save Zach, much to his confusion and frustration. After contacting Papi, an associate of his adoptive father’s criminal circle, Danny strikes a deal for $8 million in exchange for evading police capture. As tensions rise between Danny and Mark, who has been pursuing them, Cam intervenes and Danny threatens her by threatening to throw her off the ambulance. The police are forced to retreat when they discover that Monroe’s dog Nitro is inside Mark’s patrol car. FBI Agent Anson Clark takes over the case as he is a former friend of Danny’s. As Zach’s condition deteriorates and he begins to bleed out, Cam takes charge and performs surgery on him with assistance from Will despite her lack of experience.
