Ambush at Cimarron Pass (1958)
Directed by Jodie Copelan and starring Scott Brady and Clint Eastwood, Ambush at Cimarron Pass (1958) is an American Western film. After surviving an ambush, Sergeant Blake and his cavalry squad are escorting prisoner Corbin back to their fort. Corbin had been unsuccessfully attempting to sell repeating rifles to the Apache, which are now in the hands of the cavalry. Along the way, they meet a group of former Confederate soldiers led by Sam Prescott, including young Keith Williams who harbors resentment towards northerners. As they discuss their situation, the Apache arrive with a captive named Teresa Santos, the lone survivor of a recent raid on a nearby ranch. However, it soon becomes clear that this was just a diversion for the Apache to steal the group’s horses.
As they continue their journey through Cimarron Pass, Blake and Prescott join forces to make their way on foot to the fort. In the party, Judge Stanfield, a survivor of Prescott’s group, has an idea to trade rifles for horses from the Apache. However, Blake rejects this proposal as he believes they need the rifles for protection against the larger Apache group. Despite Stanfield’s threats of legal action, Blake remains firm in his decision. This angers Stanfield and he conspires with Keith to revolt against Blake’s command. A few skirmishes and ambushes occur, resulting in casualties among both sides. Among them is Henry, Blake’s Indian scout. To fill in his role, Johnny Willow takes on scouting duties while Teresa uses her charm to interact with Keith.
