Annabelle (2014) hit theaters as an American supernatural horror film. Its renowned director, John R. Leonetti, teamed up with writer Gary Dauberman while Peter Safran and James Wan produced the spine-chilling tale. Set in Santa Monica, California, the movie follows the story of a doctor named John Form who gifts his pregnant wife Mia with a valuable antique doll for their upcoming child’s nursery collection. However, their peaceful night is shattered when they hear their neighbors, the Higgins, being murdered during a break-in. As Mia calls the police for help, both she and John are attacked by the killers. Thankfully, the police arrive and take down one of the murderers while the other commits suicide while holding onto the doll in their daughter’s room. Later reports reveal that the assailants were actually Annabelle Higgins and her boyfriend – two members of a sinister cult.

In the aftermath of the attack, strange occurrences begin to happen at the Forms’ residence. Despite these unsettling events, Mia gives birth to a healthy baby girl named Leah. The family eventually relocates to an apartment in Pasadena. However, when they come across the doll that John had previously disposed of following Annabelle’s first attack, Mia and her daughter are once again plagued by paranormal activity. In a desperate attempt for answers, Mia reaches out to the detective who handled their case and discovers that the cult responsible was attempting to summon a demonic entity. With the help of Evelyn, a bookseller and fellow tenant in their apartment building, Mia uncovers that the cult was involved in devil worship which inadvertently summoned a demon that has now followed them to claim a soul.
