Annabelle Comes Home (2019)

Gary Dauberman’s directorial debut, Annabelle Comes Home (2019), is an American supernatural horror film that follows the events of 2014’s Annabelle and 2017’s Annabelle: Creation. Produced by James Wan and Peter Safran, it serves as the sixth installment in The Conjuring Universe franchise. After demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren take possession of the demonic Annabelle doll from nurses Debbie and Camilla, they drive back home with it safely locked in a sacred glass case. However, the doll summons spirits to attack Ed during their journey. Upon arriving at the couple’s home, Mary Ellen is introduced as their daughter Judy’s babysitter while the Warrens travel overnight for another investigation. At school, Judy notices a ghostly priest following her. Meanwhile, Mary Ellen’s uninvited friend Daniela sneaks into the artifacts room and unknowingly releases the spirit of Annabelle ‘Bee’ Mullins. As a result, other malevolent spirits such as the Ferryman, the Bride, a Feeley Meeley board game, and the Black Shuck are also set free and terror ensues.

Upon Bob Palmeri’s arrival, he is unfortunately targeted by the Black Shuck. Meanwhile, Judy and Mary Ellen find themselves confronted by multiple spirits. In a brave move, Daniela sneaks back into the house to return the keys to the artifacts room. However, she becomes trapped inside and is tormented by the unearthly objects. Thankfully, Judy and Mary Ellen are able to find her in time. After discovering that Annabelle must be returned to her case in order for all the spirits to rest, Judy takes on the challenge of retrieving Mary Ellen’s asthma inhaler while Bob fends off the Black Shuck. Tragically, Daniela is then possessed by the Bride’s malevolent force. With the guidance of a protective ghostly priest and assistance from their new friend the Ferryman, Judy and Mary Ellen manage to locate and unlock Annabelle’s case. But their task does not come without struggle as they face an attack from the demon within Annabelle herself.
