Annabelle: Creation (2017) is an American supernatural horror movie directed by David F. Sandberg, written by Gary Dauberman and produced by Peter Safran and James Wan. As the fourth film in The Conjuring Universe franchise and a prequel to 2014’s Annabelle, it tells the story of Samuel Mullins, a dollmaker, and his wife Esther, who are grieving the loss of their seven-year-old daughter Annabelle, also known as ‘Bee’. When she tragically dies in an accident involving a car, the couple opens their home to provide shelter for Sister Charlotte and six orphaned girls. Despite being warned to stay away from Bee’s locked bedroom, Janice, a young polio survivor among the orphans, discovers a note beckoning her to investigate. She sneaks into the room which has unexpectedly become unlocked and finds an unsettling porcelain doll inside Bee’s closet. Unknowingly unleashing a powerful demon, Janice sets off a terrifying chain of events for the girls.
One evening, the demon takes on Bee’s appearance and visits Janice, demanding her soul. Although she tries to flee using a stairlift, the demon summons it back and violently throws her down to the ground floor, resulting in serious injuries that confine her to a wheelchair. As Janice remains on the first floor, Linda, her best friend, must now sleep alone and endures torment from the demon. One morning, disguised as Sister Charlotte, the demon rolls Janice into the old barn where it manifests as Bee and possesses her by spewing black bile into her mouth. Linda observes changes in Janice’s behavior and informs Samuel that she saw Janice enter Bee’s room and discover a doll. Without hesitation, Samuel believes Linda and enters the house to find Janice walking freely again.
