Any Which Way You Can (1980), directed by Buddy Van Horn, is an American action comedy film. Philo Beddoe, who previously threw a fight with Tank Murdock, continues to participate in underground bare-knuckle boxing matches two years later. He resides with his family and orangutan Clyde, and ultimately decides to retire from fighting when he realizes he has grown to enjoy the pain. One night at his favorite bar, Philo reunites with his ex-girlfriend Lynn Halsey-Taylor, a country-western singer who apologizes for their past issues. The two rekindle their relationship and move in together. The Black Widows biker gang, who holds a grudge against Philo, resurfaces but he manages to outsmart them during a chase that occurs at a road-paving site involving an asphalt machine.
Meanwhile, Jack Wilson, a new breed of fighter from the East Coast who blends martial arts and boxing, dominates the bare-knuckle circuit. Following a fight between a mongoose and a rattlesnake, a handler realizes that if Philo, king of the West Coast brawlers, were to face off against Wilson, it would be the most highly anticipated event in bare-knuckle boxing history. Despite initial reluctance, Philo eventually agrees to the fight but is later convinced by Orville and Lynn to withdraw. In an attempt to pressure Philo into changing his mind, Jimmy Beekman and the Mafia-backed handlers abduct Lynn. The fight is scheduled to take place near Jackson, Wyoming and the Black Widows trail after Philo to that location.
