Arrested Development (2003–2019) is an American television sitcom created by Mitchell Hurwitz that premiered on Fox in November 2003. It ran for three seasons before transitioning to Netflix, where it released two additional seasons in 2013 and 2018-2019. The show follows the Bluths, a formerly wealthy and dysfunctional family, in a serialized format that incorporates handheld camera work, voice-over narration, archival photos, historical footage, and recurring jokes and phrases. Ron Howard serves as an executive producer and the omniscient narrator, making appearances as a fictionalized version of himself in later seasons. Filmed primarily in Culver City and Marina del Rey, the show is set in Newport Beach, California.

Season 1 (2003–2004). The Bluth family’s patriarch, George Bluth Sr., is the former CEO and founder of the successful Bluth Company, which specializes in building mini-mansions among other ventures. After being passed over for a promotion, his son Michael decides to leave the company and his family. However, at that very moment, George Sr. is arrested by the Securities and Exchange Commission for embezzlement and extravagant personal spending. With George Sr. unable to lead the company, his wife Lucille takes over as CEO. She appoints her sheltered youngest son Buster as the new president, despite his lack of business experience beyond an 18th century agrarian class he took.

Season 2 (2004–2005). In the second season of Arrested Development, Michael makes the decision to leave his family and move to Phoenix with his son, George Michael. However, he soon realizes that he cannot leave due to the ongoing investigation into the Bluth Company and his father’s involvement in illegal activities. In order to keep things running smoothly, Lucille appoints Gob as the new president while Michael continues to be under scrutiny. In a twist of events, it is revealed that George Sr. is still alive and has been hiding in the family’s model home after faking his death in Mexico. To protect George Michael from any legal repercussions, Michael hides his father in Gob’s Aztec Tomb prop and concocts a story about him escaping once again. Throughout the season, Michael secretly provides for his father while he keeps an eye on the family through the ventilation system.

Season 3 (2005–2006). Michael continues his search for his missing father, George Sr., while Gob receives an invitation to a reunion outing for fathers and sons. Believing it to be from his own father, Gob eagerly responds. In the meantime, George Michael and Maeby try to avoid each other after their previous kiss. To remain in disguise, George Sr. joins the Blue Man Group. However, Michael discovers this and arranges for his father to be placed under house arrest.

Season 4 (2013). The filming of Arrested Development’s fourth season for Netflix began on August 7, 2012, over six years after its cancellation by Fox. The season features 15 new episodes and premiered simultaneously on May 26, 2013, in multiple countries including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Many familiar faces returned to reprise their roles from the original series, such as Carl Weathers playing himself and Mae Whitman as Ann Veal. Additionally, new characters are portrayed by Debra Mooney, John Slattery, Tommy Tune, Terry Crews, Isla Fisher and John Krasinski. Flashbacks feature Kristen Wiig as Lucille and Seth Rogen as George Sr.

Season 5 (2018–2019). On May 17, 2017, Netflix announced that all members of the cast would be returning for a fifth season, consisting of 16 episodes. The first half of the season was released on May 29, 2018, while the second half premiered on March 15, 2019.
