Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999), directed by Jay Roach, is an American spy comedy film. Its title is a witty nod to the James Bond classic, The Spy Who Loved Me (1977). In the film, Austin Powers, a time-displaced British spy from the 1960s, is on his honeymoon with his wife Vanessa Kensington when she is revealed to be a fembot controlled by Dr. Evil. Following her explosive demise, Austin realizes he is once again a free agent and can indulge in casual affairs. Meanwhile, NATO observes Dr. Evil’s comeback from space and his reunion with his estranged son Scott, who later appears on a talk show hosted by Jerry Springer. However, their reunion turns violent when multiple people get involved in a brawl. At Dr. Evil’s lair in Seattle’s Space Needle, he introduces Mini-Me, a clone of himself who he plans to use in his scheme to travel back to the ’60s and steal Austin’s mojo – the secret behind his irresistible charm.
Their time-travel journey brings them face-to-face with a younger Number 2 and Frau Farbissina in 1969. Fat Bastard, one of Dr. Evil’s henchmen, retrieves Austin’s mojo from his frozen body at the Ministry of Defence (MOD). British intelligence warns him that a member of Dr. Evil’s team is in pursuit. This agent, Ivana Humpalot, seduces Austin but ultimately chooses not to end his life. Following their encounter, Austin realizes he has lost his mojo and can no longer perform sexually. In response, the MOD sends him back in time to 1969 using a Volkswagen New Beetle equipped with time-travel capabilities. Upon arriving at a party in his London residence, Austin enlists CIA agent Felicity Shagwell’s help and narrowly escapes an assassination attempt orchestrated by Dr. Evil’s associates.
