Avenging Angelo (2002)
Avenging Angelo (2002), an American direct-to-video action comedy directed by Martyn Burke, tells the story of a mob boss, Lucio Malatesta, who framed one of his rivals, Angelo Allieghieri, for another rival’s murder. This leads to the son of the victim, Gianni Carboni, seeking revenge. Since then, Frankie Delano has dedicated his life to protecting Angelo and his daughter, Jennifer Barrett. However, Jennifer’s husband Kip Barrett has sent their son Rawley away to boarding school against her wishes. Despite being raised by her adoptive parents Whitney and Peggy Towers, Jennifer is unaware that Angelo is her biological father.
After Angelo’s death at a restaurant, Frankie introduces himself and reveals his involvement to Jennifer. Overwhelmed by the news of Kip’s infidelity and her connection to the mob, Jennifer is a wreck. However, a DVD left by Angelo convinces her of the truth. While she doesn’t want a permanent bodyguard like Frankie, she ends things with Kip and falls for Italian author Marcello, who happens to speak at her book club. Despite Frankie’s suspicions about Marcello, he remains on the sidelines as per his duty. As Jennifer faces a series of attacks, with many of her father’s enemies taken care of by Frankie, she is finally allowed to travel to Italy with Marcello.
