Baby Driver (2017)
Baby Driver (2017) is an action-packed film written and directed by Edgar Wright. The main character, Baby, is a skilled getaway driver in Atlanta who works for criminal mastermind Doc. His job involves driving robbers to their heists, as payment for stealing a car filled with Doc’s illegal merchandise. Due to a childhood car accident that resulted in the death of his parents, Baby suffers from tinnitus and finds comfort in music. He often uses his iPods to drown out the ringing, which doesn’t sit well with some of the robbers he works with. When not working as a driver, Baby enjoys creating remixes of recorded conversations and caring for his deaf foster father, Joseph. During one job for Buddy and Darling, he meets and develops a relationship with Debora, a waitress.
The final job Baby takes on to settle his debt is for Bats, a ruthless individual who quickly develops animosity towards Baby. Despite a confrontation with a gun-toting military bystander during the robbery, Baby manages to evade both him and the police. With his debt now paid off, Baby decides to turn over a new leaf and becomes a delivery driver for a pizza place. However, Doc abruptly interrupts Baby’s date with Debora and coerces him into joining another heist with Buddy, Darling, and Bats. To ensure his compliance, Doc threatens to harm both Debora and Joseph if Baby refuses. During the team’s attempt to obtain illegal weapons, Bats recognizes one of the dealers as an undercover agent and instigates a shootout that they ultimately win. Afterward, Bats forces Baby to make a pit stop at Debora’s diner without realizing that he and Debora are in a romantic relationship.
