Bad Taste (1987)
Bad Taste (1987) is a film from New Zealand directed, produced and filmed by Peter Jackson. The Astro Investigation and Defence Service (AIDS) dispatches agents Derek, Frank, Ozzy, and Barry to look into the sudden disappearance of the entire population of Kaihoro. Upon arriving, they discover that man-eating space aliens have taken over the town by disguising themselves as humans wearing blue shirts. During their encounter with one of the aliens, Barry is killed and the others are attacked. Derek then contacts Frank and Ozzy before proceeding to interrogate an alien they had captured earlier named Robert. However, his screams attract more aliens to their location. In an attempt to defend himself, Derek kills those who come to save Robert but is ultimately overpowered and falls off a cliff ledge, presumably dying. Meanwhile, Giles, a charity collector passing through Kaihoro, is also targeted by Robert but manages to escape in his car before seeking refuge in a nearby house.
After a new alien greets him at the door, Giles is quickly captured. He later regains consciousness in a tub of water, surrounded by vegetables. Similarly, Derek wakes up in a seagull’s nest and uses a hat to secure it on his head. As night falls, Frank, Ozzy, and Barry successfully infiltrate the alien residence and come across a room full of bloody cardboard boxes. In order to blend in and gather information, Frank eliminates a nearby alien and dons its shirt as a disguise. He discovers that the inhabitants of Kaihoro are being used as fast food for the aliens and learns about their latest hostage. A horrified Robert becomes ill and vomits into a bowl, unaware that the aliens will later consume it – including Frank in his fake identity. After escaping from the meeting, Frank informs the others of what he has learned.
