Batman Forever (1995) is an American superhero film directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Tim Burton. It is based on the DC Comics character Batman created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. The movie takes place in Gotham City, where Batman intervenes in a hostage situation caused by Two-Face, who was once the district attorney Harvey Dent. However, Two-Face manages to escape. Through flashbacks, we learn that Two-Face was disfigured with acid by mobster Sal Maroni, which Batman was unable to prevent. This event led to Dent developing a split personality and blaming Batman for his failure to save him. As a result, Dent has sworn revenge against Batman. In the same city, an eccentric researcher named Edward Nygma works at Wayne Enterprises and looks up to his boss Bruce Wayne (Batman’s alter ego).
Nygma approaches Bruce with an invention that can transmit television signals directly into a person’s brain and demands immediate approval from him. Despite Bruce’s annoyance at Nygma’s demands and concerns about the mind-controlling technology, he rejects the device. After Nygma resigns and plans to get back at Bruce through riddles, criminal psychologist Chase Meridian diagnoses him as psychotic. The same evening, Bruce accompanies Chase to a Haly’s Circus event where Two-Face takes over and holds them hostage with a bomb. In a heroic move, young acrobat Dick Grayson throws the bomb into a river but tragically loses his family in the process due to Two-Face’s actions.
