Beverly Hills Cop (1984)

The American buddy cop action comedy film, Beverly Hills Cop (1984), was directed by Martin Brest and written by Daniel Petrie Jr. It follows the journey of Axel Foley, a plainclothes detective from Detroit who gets tangled up in a failed sting operation when two uniformed officers intervene. This leads to a dangerous chase through the city causing widespread damage. Upon returning to his apartment, Axel finds out that his childhood friend and ex-prisoner, Michael ‘Mikey’ Tandino, has broken in seeking help. Mikey had landed a job as a security guard in Beverly Hills thanks to their mutual friend Jenny Summers. Axel is surprised when Mikey reveals some German bearer bonds but chooses not to inquire about their origin.

However, things take a dark turn when they go out for drinks and return home to find Axel knocked unconscious and Mikey murdered by two men named Zack and Casey who confront him about the stolen bonds. Axel is determined to solve the murder of Mikey, despite Inspector Todd’s refusal to let him due to their close relationship. He decides to take a vacation in Beverly Hills and begins his own investigation. While exploring an art gallery, he meets Jenny, who reveals that Mikey had ties to the owner, Victor Maitland. To get closer to Maitland, Axel disguises himself as a flower deliveryman and confronts him in his office. However, Maitland’s bodyguards throw Axel out of a window and he ends up getting arrested for trespassing.
