Black Adam (2022)

Black Adam (2022) is a spin-off film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) based on the iconic character of the same name. Set in 2600 BC, it follows the story of a young slave boy in Kahndaq who is granted the powers of Shazam by the Council of Wizards. This grants him the ability to stand up against his tyrannical ruler, King Ahk-Ton, who has enslaved his people to mine Eternium for ultimate power and invincibility. With his newfound abilities, he successfully overthrows Ahk-Ton’s reign and brings freedom to his people.

Currently, Kahndaq falls under the oppressive rule of the Intergang – a notorious criminal organization. Meanwhile, archeologist Adrianna Tomaz leads an expedition with her brother Karim and colleagues Samir and Ishmael to locate the Crown of Sabbac. Upon their discovery of the crown inside a tomb, tragedy strikes as Samir is killed by Intergang forces. In a desperate move, Adrianna recites an incantation that revives the slumbering Teth-Adam. However, US government official Amanda Waller deems Adam a danger and enlists the help of the Justice Society to stop him. With members Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher on their side, they successfully put an end to Adam’s rampage and explain to Adrianna that he is not a hero but a dangerous inmate.
