Blindsided (2013)
Blindsided (2013), an American thriller directed by Joseph Ruben, follows the story of Sara Taylor, a photojournalist stationed in Afghanistan. While exploring a building, she hears cries for help and proceeds to take a photograph. To her horror, she realizes that the crying woman is carrying a bomb disguised as a baby. The explosion leaves Sara blind and she returns to America with her boyfriend Ryan, who is eager to marry her. As Sara prepares for a party and goes out to buy supplies, she is knocked over by a cyclist. Upon arriving home, she discovers that Ryan has gone out but when she takes a shower, she unknowingly comes face to face with his murderer who uses his blade to silently threaten her from behind.
Sara stumbles upon Ryan’s lifeless body, lying in a pool of blood. The perpetrator, who identifies himself as Chad, ties Sara to her bed and demands the return of ‘the diamond’ supposedly taken by Ryan. As she processes the shocking revelation that Ryan was not who he claimed to be, Sara offers Chad the diamond, but ultimately uses the opportunity to knock him unconscious and flee from her apartment. Seeking refuge in the basement of her building, she cries out for help and catches the attention of her friend Antonio. Tragically, Chad kills Antonio as Sara manages to escape onto the street. In a fortuitous encounter, she falls into the arms of Robert Hollander who pledges to protect her. Taking shelter back at her building, it is soon revealed that Hollander and Chad are acquainted and working together to locate the diamonds.
