The American biographical neo-noir crime film, Bonnie and Clyde (1967), directed by Arthur Penn and starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, follows the story of Texas natives Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker. During the Great Depression, their paths cross when Clyde attempts to steal Bonnie’s mother’s car. Intrigued by him, Bonnie leaves her mundane job as a waitress to join him in a life of crime. Despite their initial excitement, their small-time heists do not bring in much profit. So they turn to robbing banks instead. Their actions become more violent with the addition of a dim-witted gas station attendant named C.W. Moss to their team. However, during one bank robbery, C.W.’s mistake causes a delay that results in Clyde shooting the bank manager when he tries to intervene.

Clyde’s older brother Buck and his wife, Blanche, a preacher’s daughter, also join them. Initially disliking each other, their animosity only grows stronger. Blanche holds nothing but contempt for Bonnie, Clyde, and C.W., while Bonnie sees Blanche’s flightiness as a constant threat to the gang’s survival. In Joplin, Missouri, cops arrive at their rented home following a tip from a grocery delivery boy; resulting in two officers being killed during a shootout. As they are pursued by the authorities, including Texas Ranger Frank Hamer whom they capture and humiliate before setting free, the five outlaws pull off another heist. However, their getaway is cut short when they are unable to outrun the police in their current vehicle.
