Bounce (2000) is an American romantic drama film starring Ben Affleck and Gwyneth Paltrow, directed by Don Roos. In Chicago’s O’Hare airport, advertising executive Buddy Amaral finds himself delayed by a snow storm on his return flight to Los Angeles. Coincidentally, it happens to be the same airline that Buddy just signed as a big client. During this time, he crosses paths with writer Greg Janello. When boarding for his flight eventually begins, Buddy selflessly gives his ticket to Greg so that he can make it back to his wife and sons, eight-year-old Scott and four-year-old Joey. With the help of his friend and airline employee Janice Guerrero, Buddy arranges for Greg to take his place on the flight. While spending the night with fellow stranded passenger Mimi, Buddy witnesses on television that the plane has unfortunately crashed.

Desperate for any information about Greg’s safety, he asks Janice to check the computer system and change his name on the passenger manifest to Greg’s. Abby, Greg’s wife, receives news of the crash and is torn between hope and despair for hours. She clings to the belief that Greg will still arrive on his originally booked flight, until his death is confirmed. Upon returning to Los Angeles, Buddy is tasked by the airline to run a series of ads to improve the tragic aftermath of the crash. These ads ultimately win a Clio Award. Filled with guilt, Buddy causes a drunken scene at the awards show and later begins attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. As part of his recovery process, one step involves making amends for past wrongdoings.
