Brendan enlists his friend Brain to assist him when he can’t locate Emily. At a party thrown by popular girl Laura Dannon and her boyfriend Brad Bramish, Brendan’s encounter with another ex-girlfriend Kara leads him to Emily’s new boyfriend Dode, who is addicted to drugs and sets up a meeting for Brendan with Emily. After dismissing the initial phone call as a mere mistake, Emily orders Brendan to release her. However, after stealing her notepad, Brendan uncovers a note that ultimately leads him to discover Emily’s lifeless body in a nearby tunnel the following day.
Fueled by despair, he resolves to take matters into his own hands and investigate her murder, going as far as concealing her body to avoid any potential involvement from the police. Through his investigation, Brendan uncovers a connection between Emily’s death and a notorious local drug lord known as ‘the Pin’. Knowing that Brad has ties to the drug scene, Brendan recklessly confronts him in hopes of attracting the Pin’s attention. Soon after, he is ambushed by an unknown attacker wearing a beanie. Despite being injured and bruised from the altercation, Brendan continues on his path and eventually stumbles upon a black Mustang in a nearby parking lot. Desperate for answers, he attempts to break into the car but is caught red-handed by the owner – who turns out to be none other than the same beanie-wearing thug.
