Bride of Frankenstein (1935) is an American sci-fi horror sequel to Universal Pictures’ original film, Frankenstein. In a castle during a stormy night, Percy Bysshe Shelley and Lord Byron praise Mary Shelley for her story about the infamous Frankenstein and his creation. Mary reminds them that her purpose in writing the novel was to teach a moral lesson about the dangers of playing God. She reveals that she has more of the story to share. The scene then shifts to the end of Frankenstein, where villagers celebrate as the Monster seemingly perishes in a burning windmill. However, Hans, whose daughter was killed by the creature, wants to see its remains. He falls into a flooded pit underneath the mill and is strangled by the surviving Monster. Climbing out of the pit, the Monster also kills Hans’ wife before running into Frankenstein’s servant Minnie, who flees in fear.

Henry Frankenstein’s body, presumed dead at the windmill, is brought back to his castle home and reunited with his fiancée Elizabeth. Minnie, arriving at the castle, urgently alerts them about the Monster’s presence, but her warning falls on deaf ears. Elizabeth, noticing Henry’s movement, realizes that he is still alive. Under her loving care, Henry recovers from his injuries and denounces his creation. However, he remains fixated on discovering the secret of life and achieving immortality. In a state of panic, Elizabeth tearfully predicts impending doom. Seeking guidance from his former mentor Doctor Pretorius, Henry visits his laboratory and is shown several homunculi created by Pretorius himself.
