Bright (2017)
Bright (2017) is an American urban fantasy action film directed by David Ayer and written by Max Landis. Set in Los Angeles, the movie depicts a world where humans coexist with orcs and elves. The story follows LAPD police officer Dayl Ward, who becomes partners with orc officer Nick Jakoby. When an orc shoots Ward and Jakoby fails to apprehend the suspect, Ward begins to doubt his partner’s loyalty. During a routine patrol, the two officers arrest a man who claims that Ward is meant to fulfill a prophecy. Meanwhile, Internal Affairs pressures Ward to uncover the truth behind the shooter’s escape in order to terminate Jakoby’s employment.
The FBI’s magic division interrogates a man affiliated with the terrorist group Shield of Light, known for protecting “brights” and preparing for the return of the Dark Lord who threatens to destroy the world. Detectives Ward and Jakoby are called to a disturbance and stumble upon a safe-house belonging to Shield of Light. There, they apprehend elf Tikka and confiscate her wand. However, they soon discover that Tikka is being pursued by rogue elf Leilah and her Terrorist group Inferni, who are attempting to resurrect the dark lord. If they fail to protect Tikka and her wand, the world will face certain destruction. Can Ward and Jakoby find a solution?
