Starring Clint Eastwood and Sondra Locke, Bronco Billy (1980) is an American Western comedy-drama film. He works as a stuntman in his troupe’s traveling circus, known as ‘Bronco Billy’s Wild West Show’, which bears resemblance to Buffalo Bill’s Wild West. As the owner and operator of the show, Bronco Billy performs in front of a small audience. His finale involves shooting balloons around his assistant on a rotating disc while blindfolded, followed by throwing a knife at the final balloon. However, due to the assistant’s accidental movement, she gets injured and decides to leave. The lack of ticket sales has led to six months of unpaid wages for the employees. The show moves on to a new town where Bronco Billy heads to city hall for a permit. It is there that he meets Antoinette Lily and John Arlington, who have arrived for their wedding.

Antoinette loathes her future spouse, but must marry before turning thirty to receive a large inheritance. Their vehicle breaks down at the motel across from the Wild West Show. The next day, he steals all of her money and their newly fixed car. With no one else to turn to, she seeks aid from Billy McCoy. After some convincing, Bronco Billy persuades Antoinette to become his new assistant, using the stage name Miss Lily. Though initially agreeing to only perform once, her debut is surprisingly successful despite straying from the planned script. Meanwhile, Arlington is arrested for Antoinette’s alleged murder, a scheme orchestrated by her stepmother and conniving lawyer friend who plot to take hold of her fortune. Taking advantage of this opportunity for revenge, Antoinette rejoins the Wild West Show alongside Miss Lily.
