Brothers & Sisters (2006 — 2011)

Brothers & Sisters (2006–2011) is a popular, long-running American family drama that aired on ABC for five seasons, from 2006 to 2011. It follows the wealthy Walker family as they navigate life in California, specifically Los Angeles and Pasadena. The series centers on the aftermath of patriarch William Walker’s death and its impact on his wife Nora and their children: Sarah, Tommy, Kitty, Kevin, and Justin. Nora must come to terms with her husband’s infidelity, while her children deal with their own personal issues. As the story unfolds, we are introduced to Kevin’s boyfriend/husband Scotty, Nora’s brother Saul, and William’s mistress Holly Harper. Along with romantic relationships, the show explores the Walker family dynamics, their business empire Ojai Foods, and the power struggles within it.

Season 1 (2006–2007). The majority of the season centers on The Walkers coming to terms with the passing of William Walker and the revelations that followed, including the revelation of Holly Harper, his former mistress, and her daughter Rebecca. Throughout the season, viewers are also given insight into the lives of the Walker siblings as they navigate their careers, complicated romantic relationships, and their familial dynamic.

Season 2 (2007–2008). In season two, the main focus shifted to the love lives of the Walker siblings. As Kitty and Robert prepare for their wedding, Kevin rekindles his relationship with Scotty (previously his lover). Sarah faces challenges as a divorced single parent, while Tommy and Julia struggle with the loss of one of their twins. Nora finds herself in a new romance with someone from Robert’s staff. Together, Nora and Rebecca aid Justin in rebuilding his life after returning from war with an injury.

Season 3 (2008–2009). Following the revelation that she is not a true Walker, Rebecca must navigate her new role within the family and her evolving dynamic with Justin, complicated by the appearance of William’s long-lost son, Ryan. Meanwhile, challenges arise for Kitty and Robert in their quest to adopt a child, as Kevin and Scotty settle into married life. Having spent much of her life in a supporting role, Nora seeks a career for herself and finds unexpected love. Holly’s increasing involvement at Ojai prompts Saul and Sarah’s departure, leading the eldest Walker, Tommy, to pursue a bold plan to reclaim the family business.

Season 4 (2009–2010). This season brings new challenges for the Walker family. Kevin and Scotty are eager to start a family, while Kitty receives unexpected news about her health. Sarah finds love with Luc after he travels to see her in America, but their relationship doesn’t go as smoothly as she had hoped. Justin struggles to balance his engagement and medical school studies, while Rebecca faces difficulties of her own. Meanwhile, Nora does everything in her power to help her children through their tough times. However, Ryan’s alliance with someone from William’s past causes trouble for the Walkers and Ojai. Holly becomes obsessed with uncovering Ojai’s secrets, jeopardizing her relationship with David. The season ends with a devastating car accident that leaves Holly seriously injured and Senator Robert McCallister’s fate uncertain.

Season 5 (2010–2011). The fifth season opens one year after the dramatic finale of season 4. Kitty faces a heart-wrenching decision regarding Robert, who has been in a coma since the accident. Sarah contemplates selling the newly discovered land and water in Ojai as she embarks on a new chapter with Luc. Kevin, now working as a pro-bono lawyer for low pay, and Scotty navigate the ups and downs of adoption after their surrogate, Michelle, experiences complications with their baby. Saul unexpectedly runs into an old flame named Jonathan, who now advocates for a HIV+ charity and discloses that he was responsible for Saul’s infection. Justin and Rebecca struggle to reconnect following his year abroad, leaving her feeling abandoned and uncertain about their future. Meanwhile, Holly grapples with long-term memory loss following the accident as she tries to remember her life and loved ones.
