Bullet to the Head (2012)
Directed by Walter Hill, the American action film Bullet to the Head (2012) was adapted from the French graphic novel Du plomb dans la tête by Matz and Colin Wilson. Set in New Orleans, it follows hitman Jimmy Bobo and his partner Louis Blanchard as they eliminate corrupt ex-WDCPD officer Hank Greely. While taking a break at a bar, Blanchard is suddenly killed by another hitman named Keegan, who then tries to take out Bobo but fails. As WDCPD Detective Taylor Kwon begins investigating Greely’s death, Keegan meets with his employer Robert Morel and his lawyer Marcus Baptiste. According to Baptiste, Greely attempted to blackmail Morel and had given evidence of Morel’s illegal activities to local mobster Baby Jack. Seeking revenge, Keegan eliminates Baby Jack and his crew and retrieves the incriminating file. Meanwhile, Kwon seeks out Bobo for assistance but is ambushed by corrupt cops at Morel’s command. Despite being wounded, Bobo manages to save Kwon from harm’s way.
With Kwon’s information, they head to a Turkish bathhouse. There, Bobo questions Ronnie Earl, the intermediary who had hired both Bobo and Blanchard for Morel’s benefit. A struggle ensues and Bobo ultimately kills Ronnie after he attempts to take Bobo’s life. In a tense moment where his gun malfunctions and nearly leads to his demise, Bobo confronts Kwon in anger. Kwon admits to tampering with the gun due to lack of trust in Bobo. Despite their differences, they come to an agreement and team up. Together, they abduct Baptiste and bring him to Bobo’s hidden boathouse. There, Baptiste hands over a flashdrive containing details of Morel’s corrupt plan to replace low-income housing with upscale condos. He also reveals that Keegan is a former mercenary. During the confrontation with Keegan and his men, Bobo kills Baptiste and escapes with Kwon.
