Snake Eyes (1998) is an American mystery thriller film directed and produced by Brian De Palma. On a stormy night in Atlantic City, corrupt police detective Rick Santoro attends a boxing match at the Atlantic City Arena between champion heavyweight Lincoln Tyler and challenger Jose Pacifico Ruiz. He runs into his childhood friend, U.S. Navy Commander Kevin Dunne, who is assisting the Department of Defense in escorting Defense Secretary Charles Kirkland and Arena director Gilbert Powell to the fight after their trip to Norfolk, Virginia. As the first round commences, Kevin becomes captivated by an alluring redhead named Serena, sporting a ruby ring. He steps away from his seat, which is then occupied by Julia Costello – a mysterious woman with platinum blonde hair and dressed in a white satin suit.
As Ruiz delivers an unexpected knockout blow to Tyler, the sound of gunshots fills the air. The shots prove fatal for Kirkland and injure Julia, who loses her glasses and blonde wig, exposing her true dark hair. Taking action, Kevin eliminates the sniper and orders a lockdown of the arena. However, Julia manages to slip away into the casino, improvising bandages from pieces of cloth ripped from her blouse. After stealing a black satin jacket, she cleverly disguises herself as a prostitute. Rick notices that Tyler was able to quickly regain consciousness after being ‘knocked out’, prompting him to review the fight footage. Upon closer examination, it is revealed that Tyler’s knockout punch never actually connected.
