Catch Me If You Can (2002) is an American biographical crime comedy-drama film directed and produced by Steven Spielberg. In 1969, FBI agent Carl Hanratty travels to Marseille, France to retrieve a prisoner named Frank Abagnale Jr., who has become ill due to the prison’s poor conditions. Six years prior, Frank lived with his parents Frank Sr. and Paula in New Rochelle, New York. Growing up, he learned various cons from his father but their family eventually had to downsize due to his father’s tax issues with the IRS. During this time, Frank discovers that his mother is having an affair with Jack Barnes, a friend of his father’s from the Rotary Club of New Rochelle. Witnessing their divorce and needing money to survive, Frank turns to confidence scams and adopts the alias ‘Frank Taylor’. He begins forging Pan Am payroll checks, which quickly earns him millions of dollars.

The FBI is informed of the crimes and Agent Carl Hanratty takes on the task of tracking down Frank. He eventually locates him at a motel, where Frank manages to deceive him by posing as a Secret Service agent named ‘Barry Allen’. Before Carl can figure out the truth, Frank makes his getaway. He then assumes the identity of a doctor and falls in love with Brenda, an innocent nurse at the hospital. Seeking her hand in marriage and assistance with taking the Louisiana State Bar exam, which he successfully passes, Frank turns to Brenda’s attorney father for help. However, during their engagement party, Carl catches up to them but Frank escapes through a bedroom window. He instructs Brenda to meet him at Miami International Airport two days later. Despite spotting Brenda at the airport, Frank also notices undercover agents tailing him.
