Catwoman (2004)
Catwoman (2004) is an American superhero film directed by Pitof and loosely based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The story follows Patience Phillips, a timid individual whose closest source of support is her friend Sally. Patience is employed at Hedare Beauty, a cosmetics company preparing to launch their latest product, a skin cream known as Beau-line that claims to reverse aging. While delivering a revised advertisement to the company’s research and development lab, Patience overhears scientist Dr. Ivan Slavicky and CEO Laurel Hedare discussing the harmful side effects of the cream. Instead of heeding her concerns, Laurel’s guards are ordered to dispose of Patience. Desperately trying to escape through a conduit pipe, she finds it sealed and ends up drowning at their hands.
Patience, washed up on shore, is mysteriously revived by Midnight, an Egyptian Mau cat who had previously appeared at her apartment. Since then, she has adopted some feline characteristics. Through Midnight’s eccentric owner, Ophelia Powers, Patience discovers that Egyptian Mau cats are sacred to the goddess Bast and serve as messengers. As a result of this transformation, Patience now goes by the name Catwoman and possesses both blessings and burdens. By donning a disguise and using the cover of night, Catwoman seeks answers about her own murder and those responsible for it. Her search leads her to Laurel after finding Slavicky’s lifeless body and facing accusations herself. She entrusts Laurel with watching over George, to which Laurel agrees without hesitation.
