The American action comedy/spy-drama TV series, Chuck (2007–2012), was created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak. The main character, Chuck Bartowski, is an unmotivated but intelligent computer service expert in his mid-twenties who works at Buy More in Burbank, California. His best friend and co-worker is Morgan Grimes. Chuck’s dreams were dashed when he was falsely accused of cheating and expelled from Stanford University. He now lives with his sister Ellie and her boyfriend, Devon ‘Captain Awesome’ Woodcomb, both doctors who constantly push him to reach his potential in work and love. Bryce Larkin, Chuck’s former roommate at Stanford and now a CIA agent, steals the Intersect – a merged database of the CIA and NSA – and destroys the computer holding it. However, the only remaining copy is accidentally downloaded into Chuck’s brain when he opens an email from Bryce.

The NSA’s Major John Casey and CIA Officer Sarah Walker are sent on a mission to investigate potential threats. Chuck is brought onto their team, using his newfound knowledge to assist in stopping dangerous individuals and groups. With his life now turned upside down, the Intersect continuously sends Chuck ‘flashes’ of information triggered by various stimuli. In order to protect his loved ones, Chuck must keep this second job a secret. To ensure his safety, Casey and Walker are tasked with monitoring him closely. Although their alliance may be strained, they must assume new identities while working together. While Walker poses as Chuck’s romantic partner and works at a nearby fast food restaurant, Casey reluctantly joins the sales team at Buy More.
