Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013)

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013), released in 2013, is an American animated sci-fi comedy produced and distributed by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures respectively. It follows the journey of scientist Flint Lockwood, who previously saved his island Chewandswallow from his invention, the ‘Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator’ (or FLDSMDFR). In the midst of evacuating residents and cleaning up the food on the island with the help of CEO Chester V and his company Live Corp, Flint accepts a job offer from Chester himself. However, while competing for a promotion at Live Corp, Flint accidentally embarrasses himself with another invention called the ‘Celebrationator”. Chester then reveals that the FLDSMDFR is still operational and creating sentient food creatures known as foodimals. He tasks Flint with shutting it down using a USB-like device called the ‘BS-USB’, which can only be done by traveling alone to Chewandswallow. Despite this, Flint decides to bring along his pet monkey Steve, girlfriend Sam Sparks, cameraman Manny, police officer Earl Devereaux, and former mascot Brent McHale (also known as ‘Chicken’).

Reluctantly accepting Tim’s assistance, Flint and his companions embark on a journey to the island via Tim’s fishing boat, much to Chester’s surprise. Gathering some of their workers, Chester and Barb set off after them. As they navigate the now food-covered landscape, they encounter various foodimals, including a strawberry named “Barry” by Sam. While Tim stays behind with some lively pickles, Flint and his friends continue through the jungle-like environment. However, their progress is interrupted when the Cheespider appears, the same creature that had previously attacked Chester’s employees. But before any harm can be done, Chester swoops in and joins forces with them. Despite Sam’s doubts about Chester’s intentions and his claims of danger from the foodimals conflicting with their own experiences, Flint remains too fearful of failure to listen to reason. Eventually, this leads Sam, Earl, Manny, and Brent to split from the group and encounter the Cheespider again; only this time, they realize it was simply reacting aggressively towards those wearing Live Corp gear.
