Cop Out (2010) is an American buddy cop action comedy directed and edited by Kevin Smith, with a screenplay by Mark and Robb Cullen. The film follows the story of veteran NYPD detectives James ‘Jimmy’ Monroe and Paul Hodges. Following a failed attempt to stop a robbery at a cell phone store, which resulted in an intense shootout and the escape of the suspect, the two are suspended pending an investigation. Meanwhile, Jimmy’s daughter Ava’s wedding is causing him great stress as he tries to find ways to afford the $50,000 event without relying on Ava’s wealthy stepfather Roy. Desperate for money, Jimmy ultimately decides to sell his most prized possession: a unique 1952 baseball card. However, things take an unexpected turn when career criminal Dave robs the pawnshop where Jimmy sold the card. Despite their suspension, Jimmy and Paul pursue Dave and manage to catch him during his next burglary.

To their dismay, they discover that Dave had already sold the card to Poh Boy, a drug dealer known for his obsession with rare baseball memorabilia. Jimmy and Paul strike an agreement with Poh Boy, pledging to retrieve a stolen vehicle on his behalf. In the car’s trunk, they stumble upon a woman named Gabriela, who happens to be the mistress of Poh Boy’s top rival. The rival was murdered by Poh Boy’s gang and Gabriela was bound as a sort of gift for their boss. While reviewing hidden camera footage showing what appears to be Paul’s wife Debbie with another man, Jimmy and Paul are distracted as Gabriela manages to escape but is eventually recaptured and taken back to Poh Boy. In an attempt to steal back the car, Jimmy enlists the help of Dave, who unfortunately sustains a head injury while trying to execute the plan and falls into a coma. Undeterred, Jimmy breaks into Poh Boy’s hideout only to find himself surrounded by the gang.
