Crimson Rivers 2: Angels of the Apocalypse (2004) is an action thriller helmed by director Olivier Dahan and produced by Ilan Goldman. This international co-production, involving France, Italy, and the United Kingdom, follows Chief Niemans as he delves into a string of ritualistic murders where the victims are crucified. To aid in his investigation, Niemans teams up with young officer Reda, who becomes involved when a disguised monk attempts to kill a man Reda had picked up off the street. With the help of a scholar in Christian mythology, they uncover the mysterious organization known as ‘Angels of the Apocalypse’.
Following the discovery of a body within the walls of a French monastery, Commissaire Niemans, portrayed by Jean Reno, joins forces with Detective Reda, played by Benoît Magimel. While Reda is already pursuing his own murder case, their investigations soon become intertwined as they delve into a massive conspiracy involving a covert group of monks led by Heinrich von Garten, played by Christopher Lee. This group is on a quest to uncover a treasure hidden by King Lothair II near the Maginot Line. To assist in their investigation, Reno and Magimel are joined by religious specialist Marie, portrayed by Camille Natta.
