CSI: Miami (2002–2012), an American police procedural drama television series that aired on CBS from September 23, 2002 until April 8, 2012, follows a team of detectives assigned to the elite Crime Scene Investigations unit at the Miami-Dade Police Department. The headquarters, with its signature blue lighting and flashing screens, serves as their base of operations for solving crimes. The confident and experienced Lieutenant Horatio Caine leads this group, drawing on his background in bomb disposal and expertise in explosive forensics. He strongly believes in fighting evil and protecting citizens from harm. In fact, he has shown time and again that he can handle himself on the streets without backing down. According to the New York Sun, Caine embodies the spirit of previous stoic American law enforcement officers, while Detective Calleigh Duquesne, his partner, is described by the New York Post as a bilingual Southern belle with a knack for ballistics.
Caine and Duquesne lead a team of forensic investigators, including Lieutenant Megan Donner. She was chosen to replicate the chemistry between Caruso and Marg Helgenberger in ‘Cross Jurisdictions’. Also on the team are Detective Eric Delko, an expert in underwater recovery, and Walter Simmons, who encourages the CSIs to rely less on databases and more on science and research. Los Angeles Police transfer Jesse Cardoza and former FBI agent Natalia Boa Vista have also joined the team. Ryan Wolfe, a genetic mastermind, was added after the loss of Detective Timothy Speedle. The team receives assistance from Medical Examiner Alexx Woods, who started her career in New York, and her replacement Tara Price. Miami Dade Police Sergeant Frank Tripp also assists, along with Horatio’s sister-in-law, Detective Yelina Salas.
