CSI: NY (2004–2013) is a popular American police procedural television series that aired on CBS for nine seasons, from September 2004 to February 2013. Set in New York City, the show features a team of investigators working at the city’s crime lab. Like its predecessors, CSI: NY tackles gritty subject matter and employs deductive reasoning to solve cases, with an added focus on criminal profiling. Leading the team is Detective Mac Taylor, a former Marine and seasoned member of the NYPD. Despite personal tragedies, including losing his wife on 9/11, Mac remains dedicated and maintains a strict management style. He is joined by his partner Detective Stella Bonasera, a strong-willed half-Greek, half-Italian native New Yorker who has been by Mac’s side since he suffered his loss. Known for her quick thinking but sometimes impulsive nature, Stella later moves to head a crime lab in New Orleans and is replaced by Detective Jo Danville.
Jo, a former FBI criminalist and experienced psychological profiler, quickly forms a strong friendship and an even stronger working rapport with Mac. Despite being haunted by her ousting from the FBI after exposing improper lab procedure, Jo remains determined to regain her professional reputation. Together, she, Mac, and Stella lead an elite team of detectives consisting of Danny Messer, Aiden Burn, and Lindsay Monroe. The team is also supported by Sheldon Hawkes, who transitioned from Medical Examiner to CSI, as well as Detective Don Flack, Medical Examiner Sid Hammerback, and CSI trainee Adam Ross.
