Day & Night (2010)
Day & Night (2010) is an American animated short film, which marked Teddy Newton’s directorial debut and was produced by Pixar. The story follows two characters, known as Day and Night. Inside Day, we see a sun in the center of the day scene, while inside Night we see a moon in the center of the night scene. These settings represent typical events that take place during the respective periods, often reflecting the emotions and actions of Day or Night. For instance, when Day is happy, a rainbow appears inside him, while Night expresses happiness through fireworks.
When Day and Night first meet, there is tension between them. They are quick to judge each other based on their differences, leading to a physical fight. However, as they get to know each other’s unique experiences, they begin to appreciate and even like one another. In the end, the Sun appears at equal heights in both Day and Night, making them seem identical. But as time passes and the Sun moves on, Day becomes Night and Night becomes Day.
