Daylight Robbery (2008)
Daylight Robbery (2008), a British crime film directed by Paris Leonti and starring Paul Nicholls and Geoff Bell, follows Alex and his gang of unlikely robbers as they devise an ambitious plan to steal millions in untraceable banknotes from the underground vaults of the London Exchange Bank. To create an alibi, they pretend to be joining the mass exodus of England supporters traveling to the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. However, instead of boarding their flight, they make their way to Central London. There, they block the bank’s exits by ramming their van into the doors and use a tunnel dug beforehand to swiftly escape with the cash within a couple of hours. To ensure their getaway, they have an accomplice posing as one of the hostages who will later repair their escape route and join them in their flight out of the country after the authorities intervene.
As soon as the break-in begins, the plan falls apart. Chubby sustains a serious leg injury after being thrown through the back window of the van while Norman is reversing it through the bank’s front doors. Chubby loses consciousness due to blood loss, forcing the group to communicate with the police outside and allow a doctor into the crime scene to tend to him. Despite this setback, they manage to successfully escape with bags of cash through an underground tunnel. However, at the end, Norman becomes trapped in the tunnel when it collapses in the middle. In a race against time, Alex sends everyone else to the airport and frantically digs Norman out before bringing him there in a taxi just in time for his flight.
