Dazed and Confused (1993)
Dazed and Confused (1993), an American coming-of-age comedy film, takes place on the last day of school at Lee High School in Austin, Texas. As is tradition, the upcoming senior class plans to haze the incoming freshmen on May 28, 1976. In preparation for their championship season, Randall ‘Pink’ Floyd, the star football player, is asked to sign a pledge promising to abstain from drugs and any behavior that could jeopardize their success. Meanwhile, as classes come to an end, the new boys are pursued by seniors armed with paddles while the girls are corralled in the parking lot by Darla and her fellow senior girls. There they are doused with mustard, ketchup, flour and raw eggs and forced to propose to senior boys.
As the sun sets, freshman Mitch Kramer manages to avoid early hazing with his pal Carl Burnett. However, he later finds himself in a compromising position after a baseball game when he is violently paddled by Fred O’Bannion. The senior, who is repeating a year due to failing to graduate, seems to take pleasure in punishing Mitch. Injured and in need of a ride home, Pink offers to take Mitch cruising with some friends that night. Unfortunately, their plans are thwarted when Kevin Pickford’s parents veto his idea of hosting a keg party. Meanwhile, the trio of Cynthia Dunn, Tony Olson, and Mike Newhouse decide to join in on the evening’s festivities. At the same time, Pink and his friend David Wooderson – an adult who still hangs out with high schoolers – pick up Mitch and head over to the Emporium, a popular pool hall among teenagers.
