Deadpool 2 (2018)

Deadpool 2 (2018) tells the story of the titular character, based on the Marvel Comics superhero. Having spent two years as the sassy mercenary Deadpool fighting organized crime, Wade Wilson fails to successfully take down one of his marks on his anniversary with his girlfriend, Vanessa. Tragically, she is killed by the target that same night and Wade seeks revenge by taking out the culprit. Despite six weeks having passed since her death, Wade is still consumed by self-loathing. Seeking solace, he turns to Blind Al for guidance but ultimately disregards her warning not to do anything rash. In a desperate attempt to end his misery, Wade tries to blow himself up but instead has a vision of Vanessa in the afterlife – although he remains alive thanks to his healing powers. After being recruited by Colossus and brought to the X-Mansion, all that is left for Wade from his relationship with Vanessa is a Skee-Ball token given to him as an anniversary gift.

While recovering at the X-Mansion, Wade reluctantly agrees to join forces with the X-Men out of a belief that it is what Vanessa would want. Alongside Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, they respond to a confrontation at an orphanage owned by the Essex Corporation, which has been deemed a ‘Mutant Re-education Center’. As they come to understand that Russell has suffered abuse at the hands of the staff, Deadpool takes matters into his own hands by eliminating one of the abusers. This leads to his capture by Colossus and their subsequent arrest alongside Russell. Both are fitted with power-suppressing collars and transported to the Ice Box, a remote prison for mutant criminals. Meanwhile, Cable, a cyborg soldier from the future, time travels in order to terminate Russell’s life.
