Death on the Nile (2022), a mystery film, directed by Kenneth Branagh and written by Michael Green. The movie is based on Agatha Christie’s 1937 novel of the same name and is the second film adaptation of her work, following the 1978 version. In World War I, Poirot, a young strategizer, is unable to prevent his captain’s death from a booby trap that leaves him with facial scars. His lover and wife, nurse Katherine, encourages him to grow a mustache to conceal them. In 1937, Poirot attends a club where jazz singer Salome Otterbourne is performing and witnesses heiress Linnet Ridgeway hiring her childhood friend Simon Doyle as an employee. This sparks a romance between Linnet and Simon much to the discomfort of Jackie de Bellefort, who had introduced them.

After six weeks, Poirot runs into his friend Bouc while on vacation in Egypt. He’s also introduced to Bouc’s mother Euphemia, a renowned painter, and meets Bouc’s friends Linnet and Simon, newlyweds on their honeymoon. They are joined by other travelers including Linnet’s maid Louise Bourget; Salome and her niece Rosalie, who is also Linnet’s old classmate; Linnet’s godmother Marie Van Schuyler, known for her communist views; Van Schuyler’s nurse Mrs. Bowers; Linnet’s cousin Andrew Katchadourian, who is responsible for her will; and doctor Linus Windlesham, who was previously engaged to Linnet before she chose Simon.
