Déjà Vu (2006) is a American thriller film directed by Tony Scott, written by Bill Marsilii and Terry Rossio, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. In New Orleans, a ferry carrying U.S. Navy sailors and their families during Mardi Gras explodes, resulting in the death of 543 individuals. Doug Carlin, an ATF Special Agent, uncovers proof of a bomb planted by a domestic terrorist while examining the body of Claire Kuchever. Although she was believed to have died in the explosion, her body was actually found in the river before the blast occurred. After informing Claire’s father and investigating her apartment, Doug discovers that she contacted his ATF office on the morning of the bombing. Further investigation leads him to believe that she was abducted and murdered by the bomber prior to the explosion. Recognizing Doug’s impressive deductive skills, FBI Special Agent Paul Pryzwarra invites him to join a newly formed government unit dedicated to investigating the bombing incident.
Under the guidance of Dr. Alexander Denny, the team utilizes a surveillance program known as ‘Snow White’. This advanced technology utilizes previous satellite footage to form a triangulated image of events that occurred four-and-a-half days ago. Convinced that Claire holds crucial information, Doug observes her past footage and successfully tracks the future bomber’s movements when he inquires about a truck she has listed for sale. Realizing that Snow White can also be used as a time window, Doug convinces his team to send a note to his past self with details on the suspect’s location and time of arrival. However, instead of reaching him, the note is intercepted by his partner Larry Minuti who tragically loses his life while trying to apprehend the suspect.
