Deputy (2020)
Deputy (2020), an American procedural drama created by Will Beall, first began development in October 2018. After Fox’s put pilot commitment in January 2019, the series was ordered to air in May of the same year. It ran from January 2 to March 26, 2020 before being cancelled by Fox in April. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is one of the largest forces globally, but a rarely used rule in the county charter unexpectedly places Bill Hollister – a fifth-generation lawman and staunch supporter of justice – into the role of elected sheriff following a colleagues passing. Working alongside Bill are Deputy Cade Ward, a former Marine who served time in Afghanistan and has now spent eight years sober and become one of Bill’s trusted individuals; Deputy Brianna Bishop, a quick-witted and sarcastic driver responsible for Bill’s security; and Deputy Joseph Harris, the son of Bill’s former partner who tragically lost his life.
The police often find themselves at LA County General Hospital due to the hazards of their job. This is where Bill must confront Dr. Paula Reyes, the chief trauma surgeon and his wife. Although he never wanted this position and is in unfamiliar territory when it comes to office politics, Bill quickly realizes that following expectations and doing what’s morally right are not always aligned. He relies on his relentless determination for justice as his only necessary skill for the role he never desired.
