Desperado (1995) is an American neo-Western action film that was written, co-produced, edited, and directed by Robert Rodriguez. In a Mexican bar called Tarasco, an American man named Buscemi recounts witnessing a brutal massacre at another bar. The perpetrator was a Mexican armed with a guitar case full of guns. At first, the bar’s patrons are disinterested, but their attention is piqued when Buscemi mentions the name ‘Bucho’. Meanwhile, El Mariachi has a dream about his encounter with Moco – Bucho’s right-hand man who killed his lover and shot his left hand. However, Buscemi wakes him up and encourages him to keep searching for Bucho. Along the way, El Mariachi meets a young boy whose father is rumored to be a guitarist. As someone who used to play guitar himself, El Mariachi gives the boy some lessons. Later on at Tarasco bar, El Mariachi finds himself in a tense standoff with Bucho’s henchmen which escalates into a full-blown gunfight.
After El Mariachi eliminates everyone in the bar, Tavo escapes unscathed as he was conducting some illicit activities in a separate room. Despite being wounded by Tavo, El Mariachi manages to retaliate and fatally injures him. The woman named Carolina, who was previously saved by El Mariachi from Tavo’s gunfire, takes him to her bookstore for medical attention. Meanwhile, Bucho arrives at the bar and assesses the devastating scene. Fearing for his safety, Bucho orders his men to track down the mysterious ‘man dressed in black’. While recovering at Carolina’s bookstore, she stumbles upon the weapons hidden in El Mariachi’s guitar case and pieces together his true identity following Buscemi’s account. When El Mariachi asks for her assistance in locating Bucho, he seeks counsel from Buscemi at the local church.
