Despicable Me 4 (2024)

The American animated comedy film, Despicable Me 4 (2024), is a sequel to Despicable Me 3 (2017) and the fourth main installment in the Despicable Me franchise. Produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures, the movie follows Gru, an Anti-Villain League (AVL) agent, as he attends a reunion at his old school Lycée Pas Bon. There, he comes face to face with his rival Maxime Le Mal, who has held a grudge against Gru since childhood when he stole Maxime’s talent show act. Using roach parts, Maxime has enhanced himself and plans to conquer the world. With the help of the AVL, Gru manages to have him arrested. However, Maxime escapes prison with his girlfriend Valentina and unveils a dangerous invention that can turn people into human-roach hybrids. His target? Gru’s own infant son, Gru Jr.

To protect their family from harm, AVL leader Silas Ramsbottom informs them that they must relocate to Mayflower under new identities until Maxime is captured again. The majority of Minions are taken in by the AVL, with Silas selecting five of them to receive powers under the Megaminions initiative. However, the initiative is cancelled after the group causes damage in a city. Living in their new upscale neighborhood, Gru and his family meet their neighbors – the Prescotts, including their daughter Poppy who aspires to be a villain. Upon recognizing Gru’s past as a villain, Poppy blackmails him into helping her steal Lycée Pas Bon’s mascot – Lenny the honey badger – so she can attend the school. With the assistance of three Minions and Gru Jr., they successfully complete the heist.
